Our Process

Our proven process is backed by years of expertise and industry experience

With our seasoned proficiency and insider knowledge honed over years of experience, we have the capability to expertly bring your project to a successful conclusion.

At Cumberstone, we understand the importance of tailoring our approach to each project's distinct requirements. While every endeavor is different, the following provides an overview of our comprehensive construction process, encompassing everything from value engineering and permits to hardscaping and final perfection.

1. Value Engineering/Design Assessment

The goal of value engineering is to optimize your project by finding construction solutions that offer a balance between cost and functionality. At Cumberstone, we make certain that all your design drafts and documentation accurately represent your updated vision. This provides our team and any subcontractors with precise guidelines to follow throughout the building process.

2. Applications & Permits

At Cumberstone Builders, we know that getting permits can be a pain. That’s why we work closely with local authorities to streamline the process for you. We’ll start by meeting with you to understand your project and the permits you need. Then, we’ll prepare all of the necessary paperwork and make sure your application is complete and accurate. We’ll also submit your application to the permit office and make sure it’s processed quickly.

Once your application is approved, we’ll work with the permit office to schedule inspections as your construction progresses. We’ll be there to answer any questions you have and make sure that your project meets all building codes. We know that getting permits can be a hassle, but we’re here to make it as easy as possible for you.

3. Site Stabilization

This process involves clearing, grading, and silt-fencing your property. We ensure that the site is compliant with local regulations. At Cumberstone we put an emphasis on safety and environmental responsibility. Every detail is considered to ensure a solid foundation for your project.

4. Storm Water Management

Stormwater management is a crucial aspect of any new construction project. It involves strategies to control rainwater runoff, prevent environmental damage, and meet regulatory requirements. Implementing measures like retention ponds and erosion control ensures responsible construction practices that protect your property and the environment.

5. Demolition

During the demolition phase, we carefully remove obsolete sections of your existing structure. Our team works around components you wish to retain, coordinating the responsible disposal of materials. This may include recycling, donating, or taking care of any hazardous materials.

6. Excavation & Foundation

Excavation involves the removal of soil and other materials to prepare your site for the foundation, ensuring stability and load-bearing capacity. The foundation, in turn, provides the structural support for the entire building, anchoring it securely to the ground. Both processes demand precision and expertise to establish the groundwork for a durable and reliable structure.

7. Doors & Windows

On to doors and windows. Your project is now coming together! This step demands precision and attention to detail to ensure a seamless integration. Ensuring proper installation is not easy – we have the expertise and know-how to ensure a precise installation.

8. Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing

New construction and home design modifications require adjustments to your mechanical systems, such as rerouting plumbing, electrical wiring, cables, and HVAC infrastructure. We collaborate with expert subcontractors to ensure optimal installations that comply with industry standards.

9. Inspections

Throughout the course of your project, various inspections will be conducted by local authorities to ensure compliance. At Cumberstone, we take care of these inspections, sparing homeowners the need to be directly involved, and ensuring that your construction proceeds seamlessly and up to the required standards.

10. Finish Work

This is where the magic happens. We obsess over every detail, from the finest cabinetry to custom millwork. This is the step we enjoy the most; turning properties into exceptional, personalized homes, where our passion for perfection truly shines.

11. Hardscaping

Hardscaping refers to the design and installation of non-living elements, such as stone, concrete, bricks, and other hard materials, within outdoor spaces. Whether it’s crafting garden paths or practical walkways, we ensure that these hardscape elements seamlessly blend with and enhance the overall outdoor environment.

12. Final Perfection

As your project nears completion, our team conducts a comprehensive final inspection. We meticulously review our work  to ensure proper construction, installation and functionality. Our commitment extends until your project is 100% ready, and you’re absolutely delighted with the results.
